Lisa Lemole Oz, writer, producer, entrepreneur and host of  “The Lisa Oz Show” on Veria Living TV will be the guest of honor at the 2014 National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW) Gala, Monday evening May 12 being held at The St. Regis, Two East 55th Street at Fifth Avenue, New York.

In addition to authoring the New York Times bestseller US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships that Matter Most, Lisa co-authored five of the New York Times best-selling series, YOU: The Owner’s Manual.  She is Editor at Large of Dr. Oz, The Good Life, Hearst magazine’s new lifestyle publication, and appears regularly on the Dr. Oz Show.

Lisa Oz, Dr. Mehmet Oz

With her husband, Dr. Mehmet Oz, she co-founded HealthCorps, a peer-mentoring, non-profit which delivers a progressive curriculum in nutrition, fitness and mental resilience, impacting over 230,000 teens in at-risk communities across the country.

Proceeds from the NOIAW Gala will help support the development and implementation of NOIAW programs which include:  Scholarship Programs, providing financial assistance to deserving young Italian American women pursuing their education; Cultural Exchange Programs, providing a culturally enriching and educational experience for Italian and Italian-American college students, and monthly member programs, offering cultural, social, educational and networking opportunities and events.

NOIAW National Chair, Betty Santangelo, Comments: “As we celebrate our organization’s accomplishments, this year we are proud to honor visionary Lisa Lemole Oz.  Partnering with her husband, Dr. Mehmet Oz, she actively promotes ‘patient empowerment’, transforming the lives of consumers with vital and practical information about living healthy, well-balanced lives via radio and TV segments, articles and books.  She’s an authentic and inspiring role model to the next generation of Italian American women, with her empowering insights about personal growth, positive relationships and overall well-being, developing in them great potential as future leaders”.

“I am deeply moved to be honored by The National Organization of Italian American Women” says Lisa Lemole Oz.. “This premier organization serves as an outstanding example of how an Italian American  organization effectively draws upon the best of our Italian heritage and culture, while supporting the educational and professional advancement of Italian American women. I thank them for their commitment to this end and for igniting in me an enormous sense of cultural pride”.

It is the custom for NOIAW to celebrate the triumphs of women of Italian heritage. In keeping with this practice, last year’s honoree, Donatella Arpaia, will introduce Lisa Oz to the audience. Ms. Arpaia is a contemporary woman leader of influence in the world of food, business and entertainment.  Mistress of Ceremonies will be Ornella Fado, creator, author and television hostess of Brindiamo!, broadcast on NYC LIFE, channel 25.

In addition, the 2014 Friend of NOIAW Award will be presented to The City University of New York (CUNY), the leading public urban university system in the nation, for its steadfast commitment to the Italian American community and its positive support and relationship with The National Organization of Italian American Women.  Accepting this award on behalf of CUNY will be Senior Vice Chancellor, Jay Hershenson.

For more information, or to order tickets, please call NOIAW at (212) 642-2003 or visit
