Evening Cocktail (or period costume if you choose!)
This is the second annual
gala event for the Palm Beach County Substance Awareness
Coalition. In its inaugural year, more than $50,000 dollars
was raised in support of this very important cause, on an
evening that was referred to numerous times as “by far the
most fun event on the island this season.”
Honorary Chairwoman
Marti Latour is a hostess who enjoys seeing friends and
colleagues have the very best time while being supportive
of their community.
This year’s
event promises to ratchet up the fun as Mechele and Company
take supporters on a musical journey through the history of
rock and roll, from the
‘50s
through the hits of today. Dancing is encouraged and even
taught! There will be a steady stream of hors
d’oeuvres and limitless
libations to keep the celebration going all evening. Event
goers also are encouraged to bid early and often on one of
the most enjoyable silent auctions as well.
This year’s goal of raising $75,000 dollars is well in
sight,
so please join the PBCSAC in making that goal a reality.
The Palm Beach
County Substance Awareness Coalition (501(c)3)
is the premier substance prevention organization serving Palm Beach
County.
The coalition is comprised of solution-focused leaders and
citizens from both private and public businesses,
organizations and municipal agencies who work together to
reduce the use of alcohol, drugs and other substances among
our children. PBCSAC supports a positive, healthy
environment in our communities where children and families
can feel safe to thrive and grow.
Since 1982 PBCSAC
has been a leader in reducing the occurrence of these
high-risk behaviors, as evidenced by continuous year over
year declines across all substance issues. Coalition
members work collaboratively to educate, empower, and
evaluate the community to respond to current community
substance issues and support the community
as it experiences any emerging challenges.
The coalition has enjoyed one
of its largest growth periods over the past year, due in
part to extensive community investment and involvement as
well as enhancing the initiatives that are in place with the
generous philanthropic contributions. PBCSAC has been
recognized by state, county and municipal agencies including
the law enforcement community for its successes in the fight
against prescription drugs, creating with its partners the
largest county network of safe and secure pill drop-box
locations in the U.S. The coalition also has introduced
countywide environmental strategies that continue to
decrease the number of underage drinkers in Palm Beach
County by nearly 6,000 year after year. PBCSAC has been
chosen to lead a coalition alliance that will soon stretch
from Indian River County through Key West, as our whole
South Florida community truly comes together in dealing with
what’s
still one of the largest challenges in our own backyard.
Of course PBCSAC
cannot achieve this success alone. It is the coalition’s
belief that the solutions to any community challenge are
already present among the talented people and organizations
at the table. Working together, those solutions can
positively impact everyone who is fortunate to call Palm
Beach County home. |
