United Way of New York City to Honor
Kenneth I. Chenault and H. Rodgin Cohen
Along with New York Giants Coach Tom Coughlin and
NFL Players Prince Amukamara and Quinton Coples at
22nd Annual Gridiron Gala
NEW YORK, NY
– United Way of New York City is
excited to honor corporate icons Kenneth I. Chenault
and H. Rodgin Cohen at the 22nd Annual
Gridiron Gala in support of New York City’s vulnerable young
people. The event honors athletes and philanthropists who
have demonstrated a deep commitment to their communities.
This annual event also marks the only occasion in which the
New York Giants and New York Jets huddle
together over dinner and break bread for a night of
philanthropy and camaraderie.
United Way of New York City will honor
Chenault, CEO and Chairman of American Express, and Cohen,
Senior Chairman of Sullivan & Cromwell with the “Community
Quarterback” award for their outstanding commitment to the
community. Additionally, United Way of New York City will
honor two
players who
personify the National Football League’s commitment to
community service with the “Hometown Hero” award:
Prince Amukamara of
the New York Giants
and
Quinton Coples of
the New York Jets.
New York Giants
Coach Tom Coughlin will be honored as the gala’s
“MVP” for his outstanding commitment to the community over
the course of his 11 year tenure in New York. WCBS sports
anchor Otis Livingston will serve as host for the
evening.
Also confirmed to attend is New York Jets legend and Pro
Football Hall of Famer Joe Namath. A full list of

Since 1973, United Way and the NFL have
worked together to strengthen America's communities. United
Way of New York City, in partnership with the New York
Giants and the New York Jets, created the Gridiron Gala in
1994 to celebrate this unique partnership. Since its
inception, the Gridiron Gala has raised more than
$25 million in support of United Way of New York City’s
initiatives that help high school students stay on track to
graduate on time, ready for college or a career.
