CATHOLIC CHARITIES GALA BENEFIT
TO HONOR
STEPHEN C. FRIEDHEIM OF CYRUS CAPITAL PARTNERS
AND J. TOMILSON HILL OF BLACKSTONE
His
Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan and the Board of Trustees of
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York will honor
Stephen C. Friedheim, CIO and Founder, Cyrus Capital
Partners and J. Tomilson Hill, President and CEO of
Blackstone’s Hedge Fund Solutions Group at its Gala Benefit
at The Waldorf-Astoria on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m.
“Our annual gala highlights the critical role
Catholic Charities plays in building a better New York for
those in need,” said Executive Director, Monsignor Kevin
Sullivan. “Our ability to help New Yorkers - non Catholics
and Catholics alike – is enhanced because of the generosity
of our honorees and those who support this event. Simply
put, the monies raised allow us to provide more help and
create more hope for our neighbors who are struggling.”
The annual black tie gala will once again convene a dynamic
group of New Yorkers from the worlds of business,
philanthropy, culture, fashion, law, media, politics and
religion, all who share a deep concern for the well-being of
their fellow New Yorkers. The event raises more than $2
million annually.
Lynda Baquero, consumer reporter for NBC4 New York, will
serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. Award-winning actress and
singer Stephanie J. Block, known for her work in Wicked, The
Boy from Oz, 9 to 5 and The Mystery of Edwin Drood, will
perform live.
Honoree Stephen C. Freidheim is the Founder and Chief
Investment Officer of Cyrus Capital Partners. He serves on
the Board of Directors of Virgin America Inc. and Peterson
Institute for International Economics. He is a member of the
Council on Foreign Relations and Chatham House. He is a
trustee of the United States Olympic Committee and is a Vice
Chairman of Children’s Home & Aid Society of Illinois. For
the past decade, Steve has been a Patron of the Incarnation
School in the Bronx, where his wife Amandine has also been
an art history teacher.
"Catholic Charities is an essential part of the fabric of
this great city." Steve Freidheim explains, "It is the
support and hope for so many New Yorkers in need of food and
shelter; for children and youths in need of a family, foster
care and backing; for immigrants and refugees who arrive in
this great city with nowhere to turn; for families in
crisis; and for the many New Yorkers of all faiths who’ve
unfortunately fallen on hard times. I'm delighted to
support and introduce Catholic Charities to all my friends,
who love this city as I do."
Fellow honoree J. Tomilson Hill is President and Chief
Executive Officer of Blackstone’s Hedge Fund Solutions
Group, a Vice Chairman of Blackstone and a member of the
Board of Directors of the firm’s general partner. He serves

Advantage Testing, Inc., and is also a member of the
Advisory Board of Christie’s.
“I’ve always admired Catholic Charities collaborative work
and the difference they make in communities throughout the
city, but particularly those where the need is greatest,”
said Hill. “I am proud to lend my support and look forward
to partnering with Catholic Charities in the years ahead.”
