Women’s Foundation (The Foundation), a cross-cultural
alliance that ignites action and invests in bold,
community-led solutions across the city to create an
equitable and just future for women and families.
Ana Oliveira, President
and CEO of The Foundation, said, “This has been an amazing
year for women. Supporters of the ‘Me Too’ movement and
similar movements have given us hope that change is finally
within reach and the voices of women are being heard. This
year’s Radical Generosity honorees share our deep commitment
to social and economic justice, and we are grateful to them
for their determination to transform the lives of women,
girls and families throughout New York and the country.”
Actress
and activist Alyssa Milano uses her voice and
influence to advocate for social justice, fairness and
equality. A driving force behind the viral movement of women
fighting against sexual harassment and assault, she helped
propel the spread of the #MeToo hashtag and has been
involved in TimesUp since its inception. In addition, Ms.
Milano is one of the founders of NoRA, a coalition dedicated
to combatting the NRA money in political campaigns, on the
national advisory board of the ERA Coalition, and has been a
UNICEF National Ambassador for the last 15 years.
Nashville-based country duo Haley & Michaels, Sony/ATV

and men everywhere that they’re not alone. Collaborating
with Me Too Movement Founder, Tarana Burke, the song was
featured in TIME and took them to #1 on County Music
Television (CMT) for two weeks in 2017. Haley and Michaels
will perform “Me Too” at this year’s gala.
With
more than 30 years of experience in public health, Mary
T. Bassett, MD, MPH, Director of the FXB Center for
Health and Human Rights at Harvard University, has dedicated
her career to advancing health equity in both New York and
abroad. Prior to her current role, Dr. Basset served as
Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene for New York City
and served previously as its Deputy Commission of Health
Promotion and Disease Prevention. She has also served as
Associate Director of Health Equity at the Rockefeller
Foundation’s South Africa Office.
The
start-up studio Level Forward, formed by
philanthropist and filmmaker Abigail Disney and
Killer Content Inc.’s co-founders Adrienne Becker, Rachel
Gould, and Angie G. Wang, aims to support
projects that are driven by women and persons of color. The
founders are committed to innovation and inclusion
throughout all creative and business processes. In early
2018, Level Forward was one of the women-led organizations
that bid to purchase Weinstein Co. after the company went
bankrupt due to sexual assault and harassment allegations
against co-founder Harvey Weinstein.
The New York Women’s Foundation is the
largest women’s grant making fund in the nation.
Earlier this year, the New York Women’s
Foundation, in partnership with Tarana Burke, announced a
fund to support the Me Too Movement and organization working
to end sexual violence. The Fund is dedicated to addressing
the needs of cis and trans activists of color working in
community-based organizations focused on preventing and
ending sexual violence in underinvested communities at the
individual, community and systemic level. The Foundation has
seeded the fund with $1 million and will seek additional
significant philanthropic investment.
The event’s co-chairs are Jean Shafiroff and Lola
C. West.
The cocktail reception begins at 6:30 PM. The
dinner and program will begin promptly at 7:30 PM. There
will be a live performance by Hayley & Michaels and a silent
auction throughout the event.

New York Women’s Foundation
Since 1987, The New York Women’s Foundation
has advanced a dynamic philanthropic strategy based on the
fundamental reality that, when women thrive, their families
and communities also thrive. The Foundation’s grantmaking
places it at the top of public women’s foundations in the
United States, and in the top two in the world. We invest in
women-led, community-based solutions that promote the
economic security, safety, and health of the most vulnerable
women in New York City. We foster women’s leadership, create
partnerships that spark catalytic change, exchange insights
with experts across sectors, and empower women by training
them in activism and philanthropy to accelerate and sustain
forward progress. Visit http://www.nywf.org to
