GATEWAY FOR CANCER RESEARCH TO ANNOUNCE
NEW RESEARCH FUND AT ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARTY
HONORING LATE PALM BEACH PHILANTHROPIST, JUDI
RICHARDS, WITH FUND DEDICATED TO INNOVATIVE CANCER RESEARCH
CHICAGO, IL (Feb. 25, 2019) – Gateway
for Cancer Research (Gateway),
a non-profit dedicated to funding transformational cancer
research, has announced the inception of The Judi Miracle
Richards Cancer Research Fund, a new fund aimed at
eradicating this deadly disease created by Gateway to honor
the memory of late Palm Beach resident and consummate
philanthropist Judi Richards, who lost her battle with
cancer on January 7, 2019. The fund will be formally
unveiled at Gateway’s upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Party, to
be held at The Breakers Palm Beach on March 17, 2019.
The festive fête will support Gateway's new fund to help
people living with cancer feel better, live longer and
conquer cancer. Dr. Stacie J. Stephenson and Mr.
Richard J Stephenson are serving as the event’s
Co-Honorary Chairs and Presenting Sponsor. This generous
sponsorship allows 100% of the funds raised at the event to
directly fund life-saving early phase cancer clinical
trials.
“Gateway is the innovative leader in finding and funding
promising and groundbreaking cancer research,” said Dr.
Stacie J. Stephenson, CTCA Chairman Functional Medicine and
Director, Gateway for Cancer Research Board. “We are focused
like a laser on the wellbeing of the patients we serve, and
we know that we must make a difference in their lives.”
“Ninety-nine cents of every dollar we raise goes directly to
clinical trials,” added Gateway founder Richard J
Stephenson. “Since 1991 Gateway has raised more than $85
million for cancer research and funded more than 160 studies
worldwide.”
“Judi’s battle with cancer is a testament to her courage and
strength and speaks to the importance of cancer research,”
Mr. Stephenson continued. “This is why we founded Gateway 28
years ago, to find and fund transformative, breakthrough
research which has the power to transform cancer care and
the lives of the patients we serve. We are humbled to honor
her life and courageous heart by establishing The Judi
Miracle Richards Cancer Research Fund.”
Richards will be honored as the Chairman in Memoriam and
her Party Co-Chairman Rebecca Doane will serve as
Party Chairman. “It was an honor to co-chair this event with
my dear friend Judi Richards. We are going to have a
wonderful event that raises much needed funds for cancer
clinical trials,” said Doane.
She continued, “Judi and I shared Gateway’s vision to shape
a world in which a cancer diagnosis is no longer feared. In
that spirit, I am grateful to Gateway for launching The Judi
Miracle Richards Cancer Research Fund at this event.”
