Craig Schley, Vote People for Change
and Independent Party Candidate, announced today he is
running for the 15th Congressional seat,
challenging incumbent candidate Charles Rangel. Schley says
he has talked to the people in the district, and it is time
for new leadership.
Schley, 46, is originally from
Philadelphia, and has been a Harlem resident for over 20
years. He has spent 25 years in public service, and served
local politicians and the justice service for many years.
He graduated from New York University and made the deans
list. He paid his way through college by working as a model
for the Wilhemia Modeling Agency. It was while working as a
political
strategist and chief of staff, that he
saw the need for a separate party for people who were tired
of the political status quo, and in 2008 created and founded
Vote People for Change.
When he wins he plans to make the
Central District of Harlem a site for entertainment and the
arts to bring permanent jobs for residents, and secure the
economic future of small businesses. He wants to see the
return of manufacturing to the city, with local auto parts
companies for electric cars offering jobs in the
district. He wants better funding for schools and colleges
that is not affected by the rises and falls in tax
revenues. He will provide small businesses with tax
incentives, micro-financing and grants. And, he will
introduce federal legislation to solve the problems that
arise over visitation rights for fathers and non-custodial
parents.
He has early support from rap star, KRS
One, who said about Schley “Damn Brother, you’ve got it
going on.” Schley has often been heard saying “It’s time.”
