RAISES OVER $1.55 MILLION AT
47th ANNUAL
AWARDS DINNER
Proceeds Will Benefit
Hundreds of Low-Income
Catholic School Students in New York
New York (December 5,
2024) Supporters
of Inner-City Scholarship Fund
(Inner-City) raised $1.55
million at the 47th Annual
Awards Dinner on Tuesday, December
3. Nearly 350 guests attended the event
at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. Funds
from the evening will help support
Inner-City in its mission to provide
scholarships and tuition assistance for
low-income students to attend Catholic
schools in the Archdiocese of New York.
His Eminence, Timothy
Michael Cardinal Dolan,
Archbishop of New York, presented the 2024
Inner-City Scholarship Fund Award to Stephen
J. Squeri, Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder
of American Express for
his generous commitment to helping
support Catholic school educational
institutions. Recently, Good Day New
York featured Mr. Squeri in a segment
spotlighting this dedication to the
organization and highlighting his impact
on Inner-City students.
“We are so grateful for
the support of our honoree, Stephen
Squeri, and the hundreds of wonderful
New Yorkers who came out to support our
efforts to provide scholarships to
thousands of students. The opportunity
to receive a Catholic education provides
hope for a brighter future and there are
no limits to what these students can
achieve,” said Jill Lloyd, Executive
Director of Inner-City Scholarship Fund.
The event featured
remarks by Peter
T. Grauer, President
of Bloomberg Inc., Chairman Emeritus of
Bloomberg, and President of Inner-City
Scholarship Fund. This
year’s featured student speaker was
former scholarship recipient
Rick
Cordero, La Salle Academy Alumni, Class
of 2024, and Manhattan University, Class
of 2028. Guests
enjoyed special performances by the
choir from Good Shepherd School in Upper
Manhattan and the NFL Players
Choir.
Inner-City Scholarship
Fund provides scholarships and tuition
assistance to over 9,000 low-income
students in Catholic schools throughout
the Archdiocese of New York. The Annual
Awards Dinner generates funds that are
essential to Inner-City’s ability to
accomplish its mission.
