Red Blood of the Dragon’s Psyche, an
exhibition of contemporary Chinese art,
opened
at the Salomon Arts (83 Leonard
Street),owned by Rodrigo and Gigi Salomon. Curator
Zhang Jie-Song selected works to highlight
the dominant provinces that “have
defined the terrain of Chinese psychological
experience within the lifespan of
‘Modern
China.”
Participating Artists: Zhang Yu Ying, Chen
Nong, Fu Yue Hui, Zhang Han,
Zhao Bo all
live in China.
Huang Lilian, World Class pipa (Chinese
lute) player entertained, while guests
admired and analyzed the art. Towards the
end
of the evening, Jie-Song played the electric
violin to thunderous applause.
Whether the crowd was there because Chinese
art is “hot” and prices are going through
the roof or whether they wanted to see
what was moving the Chinese spirit and soul,
they were not disappointed.
