SOUTHAMPTON, NY -- MacDella Cooper hosted
the inaugural "Champions of Education"
benefit in Southampton on Saturday, July
25th. Following the benefits beginning at
the Super Saturday polo matches, guests were
then treated to a fabulous cocktail
reception, VIP dinner, runway fashion show
and silent auction at the gorgeous Four
Seasons Caterer Southampton hotspot.
The benefit for the MacDella Cooper Academy
helped raise funds to break ground on the
first ever tuition-free academy in post-war
Liberia, dedicated to educating abandoned
children and orphans. This year the
host-committee roster highlighted Matt
Dillon, Gov. David A. Paterson and members
of the cast of Real Housewives of New York
City including Countess LuAnn de Lesseps,
Ramona Singer, and Alex McCord. Some of the
lovely reality stars even took on the role
of models, walking the runway for a good
cause.
The event kicked off at 4 p.m. at the
Mercedes-Benz "Super Saturday" Polo
Challenge in Bridgehampton where reality TV
star Jon Gosselin and Lindsey Lohan's dad
Michael chatting with both riders and
supporters. The games were followed at the
lovely Four Seasons Caterer Southampton,
where owner Jean Mackenzie greeted guests
who enjoyed fabulous cocktails and sumptuous
hors d'oeuvres while grooving to the tunes
of DJ Dusko Justic. A fine dinner,
prepared by Executive Chef Jeremy Palmer,
kept guests satiated during the fashion show
and silent auction.
Guests included Simon van Kempen, Cold Cut's
actress Kathryn Winnick, Kerry Cassidy,
Nicole Basabe, former NFL player Brandon
Short, Trevor Freeland, Samantha Fennell,
CBS Anchor Carli Calin, SNY anchor Brian
Custer, America's Next Top Model Judge Nole
Marin, Heidi Albertson, Keli Goff and HGTV's
Libby Langdon among the list.
The evening's silent auction and raffle
items included items such as dinner for four
at Four Seasons Caterer Southampton; a
custom designed bike; a Bradford Custom
portrait; two tickets for the "Gossip Girl"
Sites Tour; an autographed football from
Dallas Cowboy Ed Jones, an autographed book
and two-hour design consultation with Libby
Langdon along with items the list. The
evening culminated with a fashion show.
