In addition to being active with the Palm
Beach Membership, Ann Heathwood was a member of the
Friends of Caritas Good Samaritan Hospice in Boston, Mass. for 10 years and served on the board of
directors for two of the terms. She is also a former
critical care nurse, and was involved with the
Beacon Hill Circle for
Charity, The Hestia Fund, The Wang Center for the
Performing Arts and the Boston Athenæum.
“My
background has made me familiar with difficult
end-of-life issues and
I have seen hospice’s impact for
myself,” said Heathwood. “From hands-on care to very
personal hand-holding, the support that hospice
provides is invaluable for patients and their
families.”
Patricia Griffith is involved with the Hospice
Foundation’s Palm Beach Membership, as well as a
past-president and board member of the Good
Samaritan Hospice in
Boston, Mass. She currently serves on the development
committee at
Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, and is involved with The Hestia
Fund and
Beacon Hill Circle for
Charity. Griffith previously served on the development
committee at Children’s Hospital Boston, was on the
parents’ committee at Noble and Greenough, and acted
as Chairman of the parents’ committee at Middlebury College.
“I have been involved with hospice in
Boston for many years and I’m so happy to
extend my contributions and support to
Palm Beach this year,” said Griffith. “I care deeply about the
organization’s mission to serve those with
life-limiting situations and their loved ones
affected by it. Through Hospice Evening, we hope to
raise enough proceeds to help make more of these
crucial services available to our community.”
Hospice Evening is the Foundation’s signature event
and has served as a cornerstone of the
Palm Beach
social calendar for more than two decades. Saks Fifth Avenue has hosted the fashion
runway since the gala’s inception and has featured
many internationally acclaimed designers such as Bob
Mackie, Carolina Herrara, Geoffery Beene, Vera Wang,
Badgley Mischka, Arnold Scaasi, Bill Blass and most
recently Naeem Khan.
Hospice Evening 2010 chairs Ann
Heathwood and Patricia Griffith will host a preview
reception at a private residence in
Palm Beach on Friday, Dec. 4
in honor of the glamorous gala and fashion show. The
kick-off reception will recognize the two new
chairs, as well as honorary chairs Stephanie
Ribakoff and Anita Michaels.
