The
Salvation Army of Palm Beach County held their 38th
Annual Black-tie Christmas Ball on Thursday,
December 3rd. This year’s ball was held
in memory of the late Mr. Lawrence De George for his
significant contributions to The Salvation Army and
his dedication and devotion to the common good. The
balls Honorary Chairwomen included, Mrs. Florence De
George and Mrs. Ruby Rinker. This festive holiday
event was held at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, FL.
This annual fundraising effort grossed nearly
$212,000 to support local Christmas programs
that provide assistance to more than 25,000 people
in Palm Beach County, as well as toys and holiday
treats to more than 10,000 area underprivileged
children. The Christmas season also is a time that
The Salvation Army remembers the forgotten and aged
through visitation to hospitals, nursing and
convalescent homes, and correctional institutions.
All of the money raised during the Christmas Gala
and all fundraising events for The Salvation Army
stay in this county to support area individuals and
families in need. The Salvation Army has been
serving Palm Beach County residents since 1922 by
providing food, clothing, shelter, and support for
those less fortunate.
Grand Benefactors
for the Christmas Ball included The DeGeorge
Foundation and Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation.
Benefactors included The Sexauer Foundation, Leo
and Kathryn Vecellio and sponsorship was provided by
the Erisman Foundation and Mrs. Ruth Fisher of the
Fisher Foundation, Inc.
