(PALM BEACH) –Guests stepped into the magnificent backyard setting for
the Center for Creative Education’s (CCE’s) Spring Luncheon and
immediately stepped back in time to their School Daze. A sold-out
success, the March 25th luncheon’s theme was carried out in
every detail -- from cafeteria-style seating and trays, to tin
lunchboxes, hall pass place cards and apples-for-the-teacher
centerpieces.
Honorary chairman Kenn Karakul
again opened his magnificent Palm Beach home for the tenth annual event
to raise funds for CCE’s programming, benefiting Palm Beach County
students through in- and after-school programs.
The afternoon began
with a garden reception before guests were called to order in the tented
lunchroom by “principal” Tom Pilecki, CCE’s executive director. A
special performance by Bak Middle School of the Arts Chorale Ensemble
highlighted the event with their “School Daze” and “We’re All In This
Together” songs. Pilecki even administered the FAT Test (CCE’s own
Florida Achievement Test) to query guests on what they learned about CCE
at the event.
“Our artists work very hard with
area teachers to incorporate creativity and fun into everyday learning,”
said Pilecki, “so the ‘test’ gave us a chance for our guests to learn
about us and experience our programming first hand.”
CCE is a not-for-profit
educational organization that supports partnerships among schools, arts
and cultural organizations, artists, community-based organizations, and
human service providers in order to integrate the arts into academic
curriculum and out-of-school activities in Palm Beach County.
“I want to extend a
special thanks to our supporters and sponsors for this event,” said
Pilecki. “It is because of their generosity that we are able to
celebrate this tenth annual luncheon and to attract nearly 300
supporters for a fundraiser during such challenging times.”
Grand corporate sponsor for the
event was Frank Crystal & Company. Gold Table Sponsor was Dr. Daniel
Kapp, Palm Beach Plastic Surgery. Other “Friends of the Center”
luncheon sponsors included: Laura Evans; Gunster – Attorneys at Law;
Vicki Halmos; Thomas M. Kirchhoff Architects; Sam and Anita Michaels;
Mario Nievera Design; MPerry Design; Pauline Pitt; Tropical Pest
Management; Jean VanWaveren and Verdura at Betteridge Jewelers.
