On Thursday, February 19, 2009, the Town of
Palm Beach United Way held its Residential Luncheon. Mel
Lazarick, 90 years old and a 65
year Big Brother and volunteer, received the
prestigious Nettie Finkle Award
for his lifetime commitment to mentoring and empowering
children in need of a hand to hold
through life.
Mel has
mentored 4 little brothers throughout his life, all of which
have excelled with successful
careers and loving families. Mel has served as a volunteer for Big
Brothers Big Sisters of
Palm Beach County for 6 years and also served in Cleveland, Ohio prior to
relocating to Florida.
The
Board of Directors and Staff are honored to have such a
committed and wonderful
individual as a lifetime supporter of Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Palm Beach County.
Mel will also be recognized at the Annual Volunteer
Appreciation Celebration in which
Big Brothers Big Sisters will announce their appreciation for those who
have served and given
their time to helping more than 1,000 children throughout Palm Beach
County.
