PALM BEACH, Fla. (October 7, 2009) – The oh-so-chic boutique hotel, The Omphoy Ocean Resort, and a gentle Palm Beach ocean breeze set the stage for the Young Friends of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County to celebrate the start of the 2009 – 2010 social season. The invitation only event, sponsored by the new Omphoy Resort, included a sumptuous array of hors d’oeuvres prepared by the culinary team of renowned executive chef Michelle Bernstein. Guests of the event enjoyed a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean while listening to the music of DJ Nick Flash. The kick-off is the first of many Young Friends Events organized to raise awareness of the Society and of the 15th Annual Evening on Antique Row.
The October 7 reception for more than 180 guests was co-chaired by Zack Bell, Jen Reed and Aime and Christopher Dunstan. Among those supporting the Society and anxious to preview the Omphoy Resort were Carin and Derek Acree, Katie and Ben Alexander, Sarah and Hugh Bate, Jane and Gordon Brown, Jennifer Burford and Sky Groden, Tracy Coffey, President of the West Palm Beach Art & Design District, Ewa and Scott Diament, Christine DiRocco, Daniel Drennen, Mark Elhilow, Blair Griffin, Tom Kirchhoff, Jose Lambiet, Melissa and Brian Lee, Tom Mathieu, Rick Moeser, Stephen Mooney, Scott Moses, Elizabeth Munder, Penny and Alan Murphy, Virginia Oatley, Kristy and Grier Pressly, Liz Quinn, Megan and Ryan Quinn, Erica Reid, Stephanie Rockwell, Ed Sheahan, Tracy Sherman, Paul Snitkin, Steven Stolman, Scott Velozo, Penny and Keith Williams, Laura Wissa, and representatives from the participating restaurants and sponsors of the upcoming Antique Row event.
The 15th Evening on Antique Row will be held March 6, 2010, and is the Young Friends’ signature event, in which shop owners along Antique Row in West Palm Beach open their stores to more than 1,800 visitors. Horse and carriage rides offer guests quick passage along South Dixie Highway, which is closed to automobile traffic during the event. An eclectic blend of music fills the air as more than thirty area restaurants and beverage outlets provide light refreshments for all. This festive evening culminates with the Young Friends’ exclusive After Party for the Host Committee and sponsors at Hotel Biba. The Evening on Antique Row is co-chaired by Jen Burford, Aime Dunstan, Melissa Lee, and Laura Wissa.
