THE IRISH
BUSINESS
ORGANIZATION
CELEBRATES 35TH
ANNIVERSARY
New York’s
Premiere Irish
Networking
Association
Holds Gala Event
At The Irish
Consulate In New
York City
(New York, NY)
On Wednesday,
September 9th,
2009, the Irish
Business
Organization
gathered at the
Irish Consulate
at 345 Park
Avenue to
celebrate its 35th
anniversary and
to honor the
organization’s
past presidents.
The event, which
was hosted by
Consul General
Burgess and
Breandan O
Caollai, Deputy
Consul General,
was a great
success,
garnering an
overflow crowd
and solidifying
the IBO’s
reputation as
the oldest and
most successful
Irish business
group in New
York.
After thanking
all members for
their generous
support over the
years, President
Garret Corcoran
presented the
eight past
presidents in
attendance with
a handcrafted
gift imported
from Wild Goose
Studio in
Ireland and
specially
created for the
event. The crowd
was also treated
to top-shelf
whiskey from
Cooley’s
Distillery, a
sumptuous
selection of
Irish cheese
from Kerrygold,
Irish chocolates
from Lily
O’Brien’s
Chocolate Café,
and a selection
of fine wine
donated by
Century Business
Systems. The
event was also
sponsored by the
North American
Celtic Trade
Association, and
photographer
James Higgins
was in
attendance to
capture moments
from the event.
At the end of
evening, the
crowd of 120
continued
celebrating at
the after party
at Ashton’s Bar
and Restaurant
on East 50th
between 2nd and
3rd Avenues.
Formed in 1973,
the founders of
the IBO created
the organization
to develop a
network that all
the members
could contribute
to and benefit
from. The IBO
has provided a
unique forum for
Irish and
Irish-American
business people
through
networking
meetings and
events that
encourage its
members not only
to network with
their
colleagues, but
also to help
them make the
most of their
professional
opportunities.
In the past year
alone, the IBO
has sponsored
many creative
and productive
events,
including a
stellar night of
networking at
the Irish
Consulate, a
sold-out concert
at Joe’s Pub
starring Finbar
Fury, and a
night with Dr.
Garret
Fitzgerald at
Glucksman
Ireland House.
