NEW YORK, September 9,
2009 – Vivid, Strong and Festive are few words that
embody NIMA’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
Inspired by Howard Schatz’s H2O photography, NIMA
captures the essence of Schatz’s underwater
photography through the use of abstract vibrant
prints, layered looks, highly feminine silhouettes,
drapery and shades of electric blue and burnt
yellow. The
Fabrics are light, luxurious and can be worn
year-round. With the current collection, NIMA
continues to reflect the timelessness and strength
of women. Says designer, Nima Taherzadeh, “dressing
season-less is the modern attitude.”
After setting Japan’s Fall ’09 Fashion Week catwalk
ablaze in a production sponsored by the Japanese
Government in March, NIMA returns to New York with
the debut of the Spring/Summer 2010 collection,
marking Taherzadeh’s first ever show at New York
Fashion Week. The exclusive event will take place in
the
form of a fashion installation on September 9th at
Jack Studios in Chelsea, where elite beauty guru
Jerry Lopez (JerryLopez.net) will create Nima’s
Spring 10 signature look with a pastel lip and a
wind-kissed updo; jewelry by DANNIJO will complement
the line; and guests will be spoiled with a delicate
tasting from land
and sea by boutique caterer Seasoned by SHALINI,
Fresh2O virgin cocktails, and take home a Jerry
Lopez New York Ultra Shine Color Lip Gloss. Model,
heiress, and fan of the line, Lydia Hearst is set to
model the collection as Taherzadeh’s muse for the
season. Upon seeing photographs of Lydia in the
media wearing his clothes, Taherzadeh enthused:
“Lydia is the ideal. Chic. Beautiful. Elegant. She
possesses the timeless sensibility that I strive for
in my designs and she carries my clothes
beautifully.”
ABOUT NIMA TAHERZADEH:
One of New York’s most promising young fashion
designers,
Nima Taherzadeh graduated in May 2006 from Parsons
School of Design where he was presented the
prestigious Golden Thimble Award for his thesis
collection.
As a child, Nima took inspiration from his mother, a
gifted dressmaker, and his father, a prominent
architect. It was in
this creative environment that Nima began designing
at an early age. Today, elements of his early
learning are reflected
in his innovative approach to design. “I believe
that in today’s fast paced environment, women look
for effortless beauty. My design philosophy is to
make women feel elegant without trying too hard.”
Nima’s clothes have garnered him praise on their
structure and sense of luxury. In 2005, Nima was the
recipient of the prestigious CFDA Scholarship
Program.
Upon graduating Parsons, he ventured out into the
retail business with a line of women’s clothing
called NIMA. Saks Fifth Avenue launched Nima’s first
collection on the second floor of its New York City
flagship in December 2006.
NIMA, now in its fifth season, currently sells out
in high-end boutiques and department stores
throughout the United
States, Canada, Indonesia and Japan. For more,
