Auxiliary
held their
21st
Annual
Hearts of
Gold
Luncheon and
Fashion Show
at
Frenchman’s
Reserve on
March 11th.
The event
drew in 130
people for
the
luncheon,
silent
auction and
designer
fashion show
by Rose
Meyerowich.
The
luncheon
raised over
$34,000 to
support the
many
programs in
the
community
provided by
The
Salvation
Army.
The event co
- chairwomen
were Mrs.
Nan
Gallagher
and Mrs.
Claire
Cross.
Honorees
included Mr.
David
Ackerman,
Mrs. Pauline
Hartogh,
Mrs. Mary
Helen Keim
and Mrs.
Wendy
Sartory-Link,
all
recognized
for their
outstanding
support of
The
Salvation
Army. The
Heart of
Gold Award,
which is
given to an
outstanding
individual
who has
given
exemplary
service to
others
through The
Salvation
Army Women’s
Auxiliary
was
presented to
Ms. Phyllis
Leddy and
Major Sharon
Smith. Due
to the
diligent
work of both
of these
ladies that
The
Salvation
Army Women’s
Auxiliary
was formed
in Palm
Beach
County.

its helping
hands of
service in
over 190
countries.
The
Salvation
Army of Palm
Beach County
has reached
out
continuously
to thousands
of men,
women and
children
while
serving the
Palm Beaches
since 1922.
The
Salvation
Army of Palm
Beach County
provides a
multitude of
services to
our
community,
including
shelter for
formerly
homeless
males,
social
services to
the entire
county, the
Community
Center in
downtown
West Palm
Beach,
Christmas
toys/clothing
for needy
children and
holiday
gifts to
Nursing
homes, VA
Hospital and
correctional
facilities.
During 2009,
the Women’s
Auxiliary
raised funds
to provide
over $47,000
in financial
assistance
to the
county.
Those
programs
funded
included the
Annual
College
Tour, Summer
Day Camp and
Friday Night
Live
programs at
The
Salvation
Army
Northwest
Community
Center,
Social
Services in
the Western
Communities
of Palm
Beach
County,
Christmas
Angel Tree,
equipment
needs of The
Salvation
Army Center
of Hope,
Disaster
Relief
following
the Haiti
Earthquake
and for a
Children’s
Home
operated by
The
Salvation
Army in
Mexico.
