The New
York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Committee had the pleasure of holding a
reception for the parade’s 2010 Grand
Marshal, NYC Police Commissioner Raymond
G. Kelly and his Aides at Antun’s in
Queens Village, on Sunday, Feb. 21.
Seven hundred plus of parade supporters
– and friends and family of Ray Kelly
and each of his 14 Aides – filled the
hall, coming from all over the region
for the event to help celebrate those
who will lead the 249th New
York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on
March 17.
The 249th
St. Patrick’s Parade has been dedicated
to the Boy Scouts of America in recognition of
their 100 years of committed service to
the fabric of society and the United
States of America .
The
Chairman of the Parade, John T. Dunleavy,
thanks all who came to wish Kelly and
his Aides well, and also thanked the
many people whose dedication and hard
work each year make the New York City
St. Patrick’s Day the wonderful and
dignified celebration of faith, heritage
and culture that it is.
Grand
Marshal Kelly thanked all those who came
to celebrate with him. During his
remarks, he spoke of President John F.
Kennedy’s praise of the Irish for their
sense of hope and imagination, and how
Irish-Americans employ both these traits
to the great benefit of their country.
Niall
Burgess, Consul General of Ireland,
extended the well-wishes of the people
and government of Ireland to the Grand
Marshal and his Aides.
