Mr. Jackson succeeds Peter Brown, whose leadership over many years engendered a strong, committed presence for Literacy Partners in Manhattan.  In his new role as Chair of New York City's only nationally accredited adult literacy program, Mr. Jackson will strive to heighten awareness of the important work of Literacy Partners. 

Mr. Jackson, a prominent litigator, is Chief Legal Officer of Dow Jones & Company, reporting directly to Les Hinton.  Before his appointment as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Dow Jones in December 2007, Mr. Jackson was Associate General Counsel of HarperCollins Publishers.  Prior to joining HarperCollins, he was a partner in the litigation department of the Manhattan law firm of Squadron, Ellenoff, Plesent & Sheinfeld, where he worked from 1985 through 1997. 

In addition to his involvement with Literacy Partners, Mr. Jackson represents a broad array of media interests in the newspaper, magazine, book publishing, motion picture and television industries.
