A belated
birthday
celebration
was hosted
by Deborah
Colton at
the
Gallery.
Over a
hundred and
fifty
friends were
in
attendance.
Upon
arrival, the
guests were
greeted by
the music
emanating
from The
Fabulous
Cabernet Art
Car. DJ
Derek Jones
spun a great
mix of music
which
transcended
the
decades.
Guests
mingled and
enjoyed
festive hors
d'oeuvres
prepared by
Abuso
Catering.
Once the
guests were
seated for
dinner,
there was a
toast, as
opposed to a
roast, by
friends of
celebrant
Carolyn Farb,
Gallery
Creative
Director.
Former
broadcaster,
Charles Ward
coordinated
the toasting
and was
joined by
Dominic
Walsh,
founder and
artistic
director of
The Dominic
Walsh Dance
Theater,
Stages'
Repertory
Theater Kenn
McLaughlin,
Hines'
George
Lancaster a
dear friend
and Stages
board chair,
Marie Myers
Bruns-Clara's
mother and
Carolyn's
godchild
added their
stories.
The pièce de
résistance
was the
proclamation
and hand
written note
from Mayor
Annise
Parker, impeccably
delivered by
Terrence
O'Neil,
executive
assistant.
The menu was
in three
stages,
Temptations,
In the
Cantina, and
Food for the
Soul, with a
champagne
toast and
divine cake
offerings
of Carolyn's
Super
Chocolate
Truffle
Birthday
Cake
and Pineapple
Coconut
Cake, a
medley of
Carolyn's
Favs. One
of her
restaurant
pals Johnny
V of Mo's offered
the
guacamole
that
is named in
her honor.
One of the
hits of the
evening was
the stellar
balloon installation
by artist
David Graeve with
amazing
photos from
Carolyn's
collection,
highlighting
important
events in
her
life. No
one wanted
to leave and
the night
lingered
on. The
eclectic
mixture of
people made
for a very
festive
evening.
