(Delray Beach, March 8, 2010) - The World Affairs Council of the Florida Palm Beaches today announced that Saint Edwards School of Vero Beach, Fla., was the winner of its sixth annual Academic WorldQuest International Affairs Competition held on Sunday, February 28, 2010.
" The World Affairs Council is very pleased to host this annual competition for high schools in South Florida and the Treasure Coast," said Judy Wheelock, Director of School Programs for the World Affairs Council. "Education in global issues is a very important component in preparing and maintaining a competitive workforce. The internationally-minded students who participate in this competition exemplify the commitment of our local high schools to the preparation of current and future leaders for the time when they will enter the global marketplace."
Saint Edward's School now will travel to Washington, D.C., to represent the World Affairs Council of the Florida Palm Beaches at the national competition scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2010. Hosted by the World Affairs Councils of America, this flagship program of the world affairs council system will be held at the National Press Club.
" Saint Edwards is thrilled to represent our local World Affairs Council and our region in Washington, D.C.," said Terence Mitchell, faculty sponsor of his school's team. "Our students work very hard to master this information, and the school is very supportive of this program. Both know that this experience and the knowledge involved in this undertaking will serve these students well in their future endeavors."
