“Looking
at the trends in international tourism, we notice that more
tourists desire to participate in recreation, sports and
adventure and learn about the history, culture, nature and
wildlife of the countries they visit. Furthermore, tourists
are permanently looking for new destinations and new tourism
products. In recent years, Kazakhstan has made significant
progress in promoting its image as an attractive,
tourism-friendly and dynamic Eurasian destination. The
country has enormous potential for cultural, natural-based
and business tourism due to its geographic location, its
amazing history and great ability to host high level
international events.”
“There
are several good reasons for you to visit our country:
Firstly, Kazakhstan is a fascination holiday destination
offering something for everyone to enjoy. There are a lot of
distinct tourist places such as Astana, Almaty, Borovoe
resorts and the Caspian Sea. Visitors are often surprised to
discover how developed the country is, and varied in
cultural traditions. One thing’s for certain: everyone wants
to return to discover more of Kazakhstan. I can assure.”
“There
are fewer than six people living per square mile and the
population in 2010 was estimated at 16,300,000- made up of
63 percent the Kazakhs and 23 percent the Russians, with a
rich diversity of 130 nationalities living in harmony.”
“7th
Asian Winter Games. Holding an event of such scale will give
a powerful impact on the development of Astana and Almaty.
In particular, the government is investing heavily in
infrastructure which creates conditions for developing
tourism in the future. Asian Games is an image project which
is aimed to show Kazakhstan in the international arena as a
completely dynamic country with great potential and as well
to provide our country an opportunity to bid Winter Olympic
Games in the nearest future. Also within the games, Olympic
Torch Relay will be run which will travel all through the
country over 20 days and finish on 30 January for Opening
Ceremony.”
“The
global economic crisis turned last year into one of the
toughest years for the tourism sector. International tourist
arrivals declined worldwide by 4 percent. However,
Kazakhstan’s travel industry has seen huge growth over the
last few years, and in 2009, the country’s inbound tourism
grew by 8 percent, while outbound tourism saw 23 percent
increase- a total of 3,700,000 travelers.
“As you
understood, Kazakhstan has great potential for tourism. At
the present time, the government changed many of its
policies towards tourism development: the cost and time
required to process visas, the reduction of tariffs for air
services to the construction of large tourist recreation and
entertainment centers. It is the source of prosperity in the
region at the expense of large investments from the
government and foreign investors.” |
New York, NY
–November 4, The Consul
General of Kazakhstan held an informative event, Discover
Kazakhstan, on Thursday, November 4 at the Waldorf

Astana, Mr. Nurlan Zhanybek, and Vice President of JSC
Executive Direction of Organizing Committee of the 7th Asia
Winter Games 2011, Mr. Serik Kulmurzayev, delivered a

With
over 4.5 million travelers, the novel attractions in
Kazakhstan have helped contribute to an eight percent
increase in inbound tourism within the past few years. A
country with a reputable industrial foundation, 80 percent
of its tourism comes from business-related visits. “Right
now, our number one priority is to create a competitive and
highly recognized tourism industry, transforming the
reputation of Kazakhstan into the tourism hub of the Central
Asian region in 2011,” said Raushan Yesbulatova, the Consul
General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in New York.
Kazakhstan has won first place in “Best Stand” in the Asian,
Pacific and Australian regions at a recent International
Tourism Exchange Berlin exhibition. The government of
Kazakhstan allocates large funds to the industry and this
year the country has been presented at tourist exhibitions
in Beijing, Berlin, London, Madrid, Moscow, Paris, Seoul,
and Tokyo.
Kazakhstan has a plethora of adventure and eco-travel
activities, as well as numerous popular destinations and
hidden gem attractions. Visitors can delight in attractions
such as the Singing Dunes, where the sand produces
organ-like music, the Charyn Canyon on the Charyn River,
with unusual rock formations and a unique lunar landscape,
Necropolis of Bes-Shatir, also known as the Five Tents which
were a place of worship for ancient Saks, and view the
Kazakh Yurt- a portable home used by the ancient nomads and
a symbol of their far-reaching homeland.
Amongst these unparalleled attractions, Kazakhstan is a
popular destination for extreme activities: from
mountaineering, rock climbing, water recreations and skiing,
to traveling on the Trans-Ili Alatau along the Altai
Mountains, to camp sites, sports complexes and hunting
grounds. Kazakhstan further features a multitude of lakes,
rivers, and the coast of the Caspian Sea, which enables
travelers to delight in beach tourism.
The
current government initiatives to promote the tourism
industry include the State Program of Tourism Development
in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2007-2011, developed
by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and approved by
Kazakhstan’s President, Nursultan Nazarbayev. Other
initiatives include the annual Kazakhstan International
Tourism Exhibition, focused on building and fortifying
Kazakhstan’s tourism image and domestic attractions
promotion, increasing the flow of foreign tourists, and
forming alliances. As an indicator of Kazakhstan’s extended
growth in the tourism industry, the 18th session of United
Nations World Tourism Organization General Assembly in
October, 2009 took place on Kazakhstan’s territory.
The
government greatly emphasizes promotion of ecological
tourism in the Almaty region at the Ili-Balkhash Regatta,
where many extreme adventure tourists gather. A 52-minute
documentary about tourism in Kazakhstan (to be released in
three languages and aired on TV stations worldwide), is
currently in production. Kazakhstan is further preparing to
host the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe
summit on December 1 and 2, 2010.
From
ecological and extreme adventure tourism, to new
developments in the country, and numerous government
initiatives in the industry, Discover Kazakhstan will
provide attendants with crucial news, information, and
insights into traveling to Kazakhstan and uncovering all its
mysteries and wonders.
