On
November 18, 2010, Project Morry held its 14th
Annual Autumn Elegance Gala at The Lighthouse on Pier 61
at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Over 300 partygoers enjoyed an
evening of festivities that included a silent auction,
dinner and awards presentation to benefit Project Morry.
Project Morry is a nonprofit, year-round youth
development organization dedicated to giving inner-city
children from
New York and Connecticut life-enhancing learning
opportunities through a curriculum based on school
meetings and an intensive summer camp program.
This year,
The Morry Award
was presented to Lisa
Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter. Ms.
Price, who transformed her beloved hobby of mixing up
fragrances and creams at home into a multi-million
dollar beauty empire, is also the author of
Success Never Smelled
So Sweet. She is an active philanthropist
and board member of the Foundation for the Advancement
of Women Now (FFAWN).
The
gala was co-chaired by Liz Kaplow and Evan Jacobs with
Auction Chair Cheryl Kramer Kaye. Additional support
for the Gala was provided by Mindy and Jay Jacobs, Emily
and Tony Stein, as well as Donna Levien Memorial Fund in
the Long Island Community Foundation and Amy Medine
Stein.
Project Morry allows children to benefit
from a network of support and gain increased social
skills, enhanced self-esteem, positive core values and a
greater sense of personal responsibility. Project Morry
is named in honor of
Morry Stein, whose life was dedicated to the enrichment
of children’s lives through the residential camp
experience. For more information, log onto
