Longtime dance world
philanthropists Andy & Avery Barth and
Andy's sister Carmen will receive the Career Transition
For Dancers' Award for Outstanding Contributions to the
World of Dance at the Roles Presents Career Transition For
Dancers 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee on
November 8 at
New York City Center.
The Barth Family's
appreciation and support for dance extends through all
aspects of a dancers career and has been inspired by their
Avery's love of dance, and Carmen's career as a dancer with
American Ballet Theatre, the San Francisco Ballet, and The
Hamburg Ballet. Upon her retirement, a Career Transition For
Dancers scholarship helped fund Carmen's graduate degree
from Columbia University's Graduate School of
Journalism.
Now, the Barths have
established an endowed scholarship fund at both The
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and Career Transition For
Dancers. In addition to assisting dancers before their
careers begin and after they end, the Barths' sponsor
individual ABT dancers, as well as, performances.
Currently one of American
Ballet Theatres Vice-Chairmen, Andy has enjoyed his nine
years as a member of ABT's Board of Trustees. Together with
his wife Avery, they have opened their
San Marino home for fundraising
evenings to benefit ABT and encourage the support of dance
in the Los Angeles
area.
Angela Lansbury
hosts the star studded retrospective featuring glittering
highlights from past years. She will be joined on stage Tony
Award Winners: Bebe Neuwirth, Ann Reinking,

Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, The
