- The global nonprofit organization, World Childhood
Foundation, is pleased to announce the Childhood Spring
Gala Dinner on April 2 raised upwards of $600,000 to
benefit projects in the US and globally, among them local
organizations, Children's Harbor in Pembroke Pines and
Kristi House in Miami. The dinner, for over 220 guests, was
underwritten by and held in the home of the event's Grand
Benefactors, Mr. Per-Olof and Mrs. Åsa-Lena Loof.
"My wife, Åsa-Lena, and I are thrilled to have hosted such a
successful fundraiser for a significant organization that
has a profound impact, worldwide, on the protection and
well-being of children," said Per-Olof Loof. "Having Her
Majesty and Her Royal Highness in attendance, and a
performance by Josh Groban, were truly the highpoints of the
evening."
Highlights of the evening included an outstanding pro-bono
performance by the internationally acclaimed, Josh Groban,
who also dined with Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness.
Additional entertainment for the evening also included
operatic soprano, Elizabeth Caballero; leading tenor, Jorge
Antonio Pita and pianist, Sergio J. Puig. The luxurious
Live and Silent Auctions showcased an assortment of
desirable items including a commissioned painting by
renowned pop artist, Romero Britto; the Royal Stockholm
Experience trip, featuring an exclusive tour of the Palace
and a private yacht through the Archipelago; concert tickets
and a meet and greet with the evening's entertainment,
platinum artist, Josh Groban; a seven night trip for two to
Soneva Kiri by Six Senses, Thailand; Luis Vuitton luggage,
and much more.
