About the
Kupona Foundation
|
The
Kupona Foundation was created in March 2009 to support
Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT)
and its Baobab Maternity Hospital. With a direct link to
local activities, the Kupona Foundation ensures maximum
return on donor investment and programmatic benefit for
CCBRT, Baobab, and their patients.
CCBRT is the largest indigenous provider of disability and
rehabilitation services in the country. Its surgical
disability hospital, community programs, and training and
advocacy units directly benefit more than 120,000 adults and
children with disabilities and their caregivers every year.
Commitment to cost efficiency and a graduated pay structure
facilitate long-term sustainability while allowing CCBRT to
treat patients who are truly the poorest of
the poor.
In
partnership with the Government of Tanzania, CCBRT will add
to its existing services by offering much-needed mother and
infant health care through its new Baobab Maternity
Hospital, scheduled to break ground in early 2011.
