On Monday evening, June 13, 2011, long-time friends Bette
Midler and Paul Simon reunited to support and perform at the
Children's Health Fund's Annual Benefit in New York, where
they surprised guests with a rousing performance of "The
Boxer." Political elite including former Mayor David
Dinkins, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, New York City public
advocate Bill de Blasio and Sandra Lee, first girlfriend of
NYC, were also on hand to support the cause.
The annual benefit helps raise money to
sustain and expand CHF’s national network of pediatric
programs. In its 24th year, the Children’s
Health Fund is the nation's leading pediatric provider of
mobile-based health care for homeless and low-income
children and their families, with outreach initiatives from
New York to Detroit to San Francisco which provide
comprehensive health care services to homeless and
low-income children, regardless of their families’ ability
to pay.
