While the South Florida season was still
gearing up, celebrities, tastemakers and philanthropists
gathered on a recent beautiful Fall evening at Capitale in
New York City to celebrate the third annual Save A Life
charity benefit -- a kick-off event for the seventh annual
Caron Gala 2012 in Palm Beach.
Pre-event co-chairs Jacquelyn Sherry Coombe and Denise Vasi
were joined by event hosts Kelly Bensimon and Russell
Simmons to welcome Florida gala chairman, Petra Levin and
Caron Renaissance executive director, Sid Goodman, for the
NY evening.
The annual Caron Gala and all pre-events raise critical
funds for the Lifesaver Scholarship Fund at Caron, offering
scholarships for well-deserving patients and their families
seeking addiction treatment they otherwise could not afford.
Save a Life generated $250,000 for this fund.
The Fall event brought out New York’s elite crowd that
included Eliza Dushku, Chloe Flower, Noah Tepperberg, Allie
Rizzo, Avi Oster, Tinamarie Clark, Scott Sartiano, Richie
Akiva, Nicholas Forker, Scott Conant and a bevy of gorgeous
Wilhelmina models.
Famed actor, author, and advocate,
Christopher Kennedy Lawford, addressed the crowd with an
inspirational speech about his battle with drug and alcohol
addiction for much of his young life. A fantastic silent
auction and an uplifting performance by global band Papagayo
capped off the evening's festivities.
“It was a great preview of our exciting 2012 event,” said
Levin.
Locally in Palm Beach, the ballroom at The Mar-a-Lago Club
will be filled with stars as the Caron Gala takes an After
Dark theme in 2012. Comedian, Richard Lewis will headline
entertainment and legendary NFL great, Joe Theismann will
emcee the February 25th, 2012 benefit for addiction recovery
at Caron Renaissance. Along with Levin, honorary chairman,
Donald Trump; junior chairmen, Martha and Robert DeForest;
and honoree, Patrick Rooney round out the leadership for the
2012 event. Corporate sponsor for the Gala is Tiffany & Co.
The Caron Treatment Centers network is one of
the finest nationally recognized non-profit drug and alcohol
treatment centers in the country, offering residential
treatment and outpatient programs for adults and
adolescents, as well as families affected by the disease of
addiction. Caron Renaissance’s state-of-the-art treatment
campus in Boca Raton features groundbreaking on-site family
programs, and is pioneering new advances in the field of
addiction treatment.
