It is with
great pride that Florida Grand Opera (FGO) welcomes its
fourth General Director and CEO, Susan T. Danis.
She is scheduled to officially join the FGO family effective
October 9, 2012, just in time for the start of the 2012-2013
season. This is an important time in FGO’s 72-year history
and, as the company continues on its mission to produce
grand opera in South Florida, we welcome a new leader to
join us in this effort.
A
self-proclaimed “opera geek”, Susan comes to FGO after
dedicating nearly fourteen years to Sarasota Opera. There,
she championed artistic endeavors and capital campaigns,
earning the respect of her staff and community alike. Having
paid regular visits to Miami, Susan looks forward to
transitioning to South Florida and continuing to work on her
Spanish.
“Susan is a
phenomenal choice to lead FGO. She has the unique
combination of being a successful opera producer, manager
and development expert. We are ecstatic to have Susan build
on FGO’s history as Florida’s oldest performing arts company
and infuse the company with great productions, ideas and
enthusiasm,” remarked Victor H. Mendelson, President of
FGO’s Board of Directors.
Susan T.
Danis was selected after an international search, consisting
of
47 highly qualified applicants and multiple rounds of
interviews with our Search Committee, made up of board
members and local arts and business leaders.
