2012 GUGGENHEIM INTERNATIONAL GALA
The annual Guggenheim International Gala was held on
Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim
Museum in New York City, in
Monn and hors d’ouevres and dinner were prepared by Seamus
Mullen of Tertulia. An auction to celebration of the
critically-acclaimed exhibition
Picasso Black
and White
organized by Carmen Giménez, Stephen and Nan Swid Curator of
20th Century Art at the Guggenheim.
Honorary Chairs of the event included Almine and Bernard
Ruiz-Picasso, Paloma Picasso Thévenet and Dr. Eric Thévenet,
and Diana Widmaier-Picasso. The Dinner Chair was Larry
Gagosian. Chairs were Christina Baker, Eleanor Acquavella
Dejoux, Phyllis Mack, Denise Saul, and Jennifer Blei
Stockman. Artists in attendance included Gabriel Orozco,
George Condo, Francoise Gilot, Marilyn Minter, Lawrence
Weiner, Alexandre Singh, and KAWS. Other guests included
Emma Hall, Laurent and Virginie Degryse, Howard and Nancy
Marks, Peter Lawson-Johnston Sr., Howard and Allison Lutnick,
Thaddeus Ropac, Princess Firyal of Jordon, Rosa Giovanna and
Giuseppina Panza di Buomo and Stavros Merjos.
A limited-edition gift commissioned by artist Alexandre
Singh was given to all guests. Décor reflecting the
monochromatic palette of the exhibition was by David benefit
the Guggenheim International Gala on November 13-14 at
Sotheby’s included lots by Orozco, Georg Baselitz, Roy
Lichtenstein, Richard Prince, and James Turrell, among
others. Funds totaling $3.2 million raised at the gala and
auction are in support of the Solomon R. Guggenheim
Foundation.
