AT THE 30TH ANNUAL
NEWYORK-PRESBYTERIAN/WEILL CORNELL
WOMEN’S HEALTH SYMPOSIUM
NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell
Medical Center hosted its Annual Women’s Health
Symposium titled “The S Factor: Sleep, Sex and Stress”
on Wednesday, October 3 at CITI Auditorium. Leading
medical specialists Dr. Ana C. Krieger and Dr.
Gail Saltz spoke to nearly 300 guests on best
practices when it comes to managing the “Three S’s.”
In recognition of the event’s 30th
anniversary, Dr. Herbert Pardes, executive
chairman of NewYork-Presbyterian’s Board of Trustees and
moderator for the event, was honored by the Women’s
Health Symposium Executive Steering Committee, chaired
by Joan Weill.
Dr. Krieger, medical
director for the Weill Cornell Center for Sleep
Medicine, discussed the importance of keeping work out
of the bedroom, avoiding light exposure during sleep and
carving out time to “wind down” for a few minutes before
bed.
Dr.
Saltz ,
clinical associate professor of psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill
Cornell, discussed stress and sex, highlighting the ways
sexual issues can contribute to stress and the ways
healthy sex can alleviate stress; stresses women bear,
including economic, parenting and marital; and the
unique stresses and advantages of living in New York
City.
Proceeds from the event will
benefit the Iris Cantor Women’s Health Center, directed
by Dr. Orli Etingin.
