Recently
the National Organization
of Italian American
Women (NOIAW) celebrated
their Annual 2013 Gala
Event at the Pierre
Hotel in New York city.
It was a spectacular
event highlighted by
delicious Italian foods,
fine wines and an opera!
Since opera was born in
Italy, it was only
natural that the guests
of NOIAW were treated to
a classical opera. A
special wine tasting,
featuring products of
Winebow, followed the
delightful musical
performance. Dr.
Marilyn F. Krieger,
Winebow’s Director of
Public Relations, held a
seminar titled "Italian
Women in Wine: A Guided
Tasting". This talk
offered insights into
the famous vineyards of
Italy. Then, guests
went to the cocktail
reception. The ladies
all looked elegant in
their evening outfits,
and all the gentlemen
appeared sharp in their
tailored suits.
Later, at dinner, the
guests received a
special treat - opera
singer Cristina
Fontinelli, from New
York, sang the American
National Anthem, and
tenor Luciano Lamonarca,
from Italy, sang the
Italian
National Anthem.
The 2013 Gala also
celebrated the triumphs
of Italian women by
honoring Donatella Arpia,
renowned restaurateur
and celebrity chef. Also
feted was the Honorable
Natalia Quintavale, the
Consul General of Italy
in New York. She
received the Friend of
NOIAW Award.
Congratulations to these
two remarkable women!
The Monseigneur Jamie
Gigiantiello gave the
invocation and Ornella
Fado, creator, author
and television hostess
of Brindiamo, served as
the Master of Cermonies.
The gala helps support
the development and
implementation of NOIAW
programs – importantly
providing financial
scholarships to
deserving young Italian
American women entering
the Education and
Cultural Exchange
Program. Several
students received
scholarships on this
night.
The live auction also
went well, raising
monies for NOIAW.
This evening of
cocktails, food
dinner, awards,
scholarships, and
charity giving was
simply wonderful. If
