May 9, 2013, New York—On Wednesday, May 8, art and fashion luminaries from Latin America to London gathered at New York’s Skylight at Moynihan Station for the Tate Americas Foundation’s third triennial Artists Dinner. Sponsored by Dior, the evening honored more than thirty artists from the Americas whose works are represented in the Tate’s permanent collection. The evening, which included a live auction led by Simon de Pury and
after party with artist Jim Lambie as deejay, resulted in a total of more than $2 million raised for the independent New York charity which supports the acquisition of works by artists from the
Americas for the Tate.

The Artists Dinner and After Party were attended by more than 650 guests, including honorary chairs Glenda Bailey and Sarah Jessica Parker and event co-chairs Estrellita Brodsky (New
York), Kira Flanzraich (Miami), Pamela Joyner (San Francisco), Amy Phelan (Aspen / New York), and Christen Wilson (Dallas).
Dinner guests were greeted by a cocktail hour of sparkling Veuve Cliquot champagne and spirits by Casa Dragones before sitting down to an English garden meets industrial chic theme by David
Stark Design. A fitting menu by caterer Abigail Kirsh was served featuring an artisanal salad of fresh local ricotta crostini drizzled with creek farm honey and entrée of sake roasted halibut prior
to tea and sweets in homage to London’s finest.

A live auction led by Simon de Pury featuring items generously donated by supporters of the Tate raised over $500,000.
Items included: artist Nathan Carter to decorate and spruce up your holiday tree which received $11,000; career guidance lunch with Glenda Bailey, Editor in Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, for $15,000; shopping trip and lunch in New York City with Sarah Jessica Parker including gift certificate to Dior bringing in a total of $85,000 as a double lot selling at $40,000 and $45,000; trip to the vibrant
art scene of Havana, Cuba with thanks to Ella Fontanals-Cisneros at $90,000; a stay at the Gingerbread House in Mustique with thanks to Tiqui Atencio Demirdjian which received
$60,000; and sailing the Greek Islands on collectors Dakis and Lietta Joannou’s luxury yacht, “Guilty” at $175,000 and the Curatorial Travel Fund raising more than $50,000.

ABOUT TATE AMERICAS FOUNDATION:

Tate Americas Foundation an independent charity based in New York to raise support for Tate from individuals, foundations, and corporations in the Americas. The charity was founded in
1987 when Sir Edwin and Lady Manton created the American Fund for the Tate Gallery, a restricted endowment to acquire works of art from North and South America for presentation to
Tate. The organization, previously known as American Patrons of Tate, was renamed in early 2013 to reflect the organization’s evolving role and expanding geographical base of support.
Since 1999, the charity has raised over $100 million in cash
and art donations.
