The Guild of Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) presented its annual Accessories
for Success Spring
Luncheon and Fashion Show, featuring an informal fashion
show from Kyle by Alene Too, Friday, April 11, 2014 at The
Beverly Hills Hotel. Honorees included Sandra Stern, COO of
Lionsgate Television; Lee Phillip Bell, Co-Creator, of Emmy®
award-winning daily dramas, “The Young and the Restless” and
“The Bold and the Beautiful,” and Emmy® Award-winning Host
of “The Lee Phillip Show;” and Brindell Roberts Gottlieb,
community activist and humanitarian. Guild President Mary
Willard welcomed guests and introduced five-time Emmy®
Award-winning actress Heather Tom who emceed. Barbara
Lazaroff, Lori McCreary and Nina Shaw served as Honorary
Co-Chairs; Guild members Christine Harte and Teri Simpson
Co-Chaired. Lionsgate was presenting sponsor. A highlight
of the afternoon included a Make-A-Match appeal by Guild
member Sarah Purcell. Honoree Sandra Stern’s Little Sister
Melissa spoke poignantly about her mentor and how she is
looking forward to attending Loyola Marymount University in
the fall on a full scholarship. Former Little Brother and
current Big Brother Jeremy Weinglass entertained on piano.
Founded in 1985, the Guild is dedicated to
promoting awareness and raising financial support for Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. A volunteer
group comprised of prominent women and men from the
community, the Guild has raised over $10 million to support
the one-to-one mentoring programs of Big Brothers
Big Sisters.
For 59 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Greater Los Angeles, one of the largest youth mentoring
organizations in the country, has served children and
families facing adversity. They provide one-to-one youth
mentoring services, carefully screening volunteer mentors
and matching them with youth, and provide ongoing support
for the volunteers, mentees, families, schools, businesses
and community partners.
