Bhopal- A Prayer For Rain
Holds Private Screening in United Nations
“Bhopal- A Prayer for Rain” the upcoming
historical-drama release set amidst the real life Bhopal
disaster that occurred in India in 1984 held a private
screening to a youth assembly in the United Nations.
Filmed in India, A Prayer for Rain traces
the lives of those living in Bhopal during the lead-up
to what is still the world’s biggest chemical disaster
through to its tragic aftermath, which many feel has
still not been addressed, and which continues to have a
major impact on peoples’ lives today. The victims of the
Bhopal disaster have still, to this day, never received
an official apology from the Indian or American
government.
The film is produced by Sahara Movie
Studios and Rising Star Entertainment both have been
committed to the project since inception. Seemanto Roy,
Executive Director of Sahara Movie Studios said “The
Bhopal story was one that Sahara Movie Studios felt
should never be forgotten and we wanted to come forward
and support this film which we feel serves a broader
humanitarian purpose in inspiring an entire human race.”
Bhopal, Prayer for Rain brings together
an international cast which includes such notable actors
as Martin Sheen, Kal Penn and Mischa Barton. All have
indicated their immediate desire to be a part of this
film for similar moral reasons.
Notable attendees to the screening
include Ravi Walia, Producer at Rising Star
Entertainment who also addressed the audience questions
and answer session.
Mr. Roy added “We hope films like this
also serve to stimulate corporate responsibility amongst
organizations and furthermore inspire them to come
forward and support films which have message such as
this one.
Bhopal, A Prayer for Rain will be
released in the US in November and to worldwide
audiences in December. Additional information on its
