Frontline Humanitarian Heroes discuss the risks they
face and challenges
they overcome in some of the worlds most dangerous
conflicts.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs held panel discussion to celebrate
World Humanitarian Day 2014.
Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon
acknowledged their efforts,
along with a group of journalists and activists, about
the U.N.'s recently released study on violence against
aid workers.

Renown "lost boy" child soldier from South Sudan, turned rapper and actor
with a new film coming out this October featuring Reese
Witherspoon, called "The Good Lie." His autobiography,
War Child: A Child Soldier's Story, was published in
2009. He is an enormous activist around humanitarian
work.
Pernille Ironside
Chief of Field Officer, Gaza. She has worked
effortlessly to aid and protect the children of Gaza who
are currently living through it's terrible crisis and
she has been on the ground since it's began.
Kinan Azmeh
Kinan is a renowned clarinet musician from Syria who
currently resides in NYC. His most recent solo lament, A
Sad Morning, Every Morning is a dedication to the
children of his homeland who are caught up in the
brutality of the rebellion.
Ken Payumo
Ken has an incredible story as a former NYPD officer and
NYC native. In the 90's, while on-duty with the NYPD he
was shot in Bushwick, and soon left the force. From
there he spent 10 years doing UN work, and during his
time as head of the compound
in Bor, Sudan, he saved the lives of over 12,000
civilians.
