THE 60TH ANNUAL
SPIRIT OF ACHIEVEMENT LUNCHEON
The Women’s Division of Albert Einstein
College of Medicine hosted its 60th Annual Spirit
of Achievement Luncheon in the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza
Hotel on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. This year’s honorees
included Tony and Emmy award-winning actress Christine
Baranski, Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder of Gilt, the
popular online shopping destination, Julie Macklowe, founder
of vbeauté, the upscale skin care line, and distinguished
Einstein faculty member Judy Aschner, M.D., a leading expert
in pediatric medicine. The event was co-chaired by Alison
Brettschneider, Jackie Harris Hochberg and Andrea Stark and
Women’s Division President Carol Roaman.

Jill Martin, a past Spirit honoree, served as the
afternoon’s Mistress of Ceremonies. The
luncheon began with an introduction by Albert Einstein
College of Medicine Board of Overseers Chair Ruth L.
Gottesman, Ed. D. and a special video tribute in remembrance
of former Women’s Division president Rita Rosen, which was
introduced by Carol Roaman, the Women’s Division’s current
president.
Guests including Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah
Hughes, novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford, journalist Judith
Miller, Douglas
Elliman’s Jane Pontarelli, The H.O.P.E Foundation’s
Nicole DiCocco, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Michele Herbert, Janna
Bullock, Real Housewives of New York stars Ramona Singer and
Aviva Drescher and Real Housewives of NJ star Dina Manzo.
Since 1953, the Einstein Women’s Division has
raised millions of dollars to advance medical research and
medical education programs at Albert Einstein College of
Medicine. The Spirit of Achievement Awards Luncheon, held
annually in New York City, is the Division’s flagship
fundraiser. Proceeds from the luncheon benefitted the
Women’s Division’s initiative to support vital cancer
research by leading scientists at Einstein’s Albert Einstein
Cancer Center. |
