Celebrities
and Dignitaries came out to see the stunning, lush silk
designs and vibrant colors that have made Aslam Hussein
a renowned, international designer. His appearance was
also a message of unity and peace, as Aslam is part of
the Muslim minority, in a country with 93 percent
Buddhists.
Celebrating
over 25 years of fashion, his breathtaking Spring and
Summer Collection featured innovative Gold and Bronze
designs and magnificent jewelry accents. Ambassadors
from Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Honduras were in attendance,
as well as media from around the world. Acclaimed TV
Host Rita Cosby welcomed Aslam and praised his great eye
for luxurious fashion and great love of family.
Aslam was
also accompanied by his talented team of beauticians and
photographers, who came directly from Sri Lanka, often
referred to as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, for this
unique, high-profile event. Aslam developed his flair
for fashion at the age of 16, while helping his parents
at their family-owned textile shop. Today he works with
some of Sri Lanka's top models and celebrities, and was
a huge hit at his NYC unveiling.
