New York, NY (October 31, 2014)—The
American Federation of Arts held its 2014 Gala &
Cultural Leadership Awards on Wednesday, October 29, at
the Metropolitan Club in New York. This year, the AFA
honored renowned contemporary artist Spencer
Finch and former ARTnews editor
and publisher Milton
Esterow. Prominent art collector Mickey
Cartin and
art dealer and author Michael
Findlay introduced
each respectively. Three-term New York City Mayor Michael
Bloomberg offered
praise and congratulations to Spencer Finch via a
surprise video. AFA Board President Clare
McKeon and Dan
Keegan, Director of the Milwaukee Art Museum,
each spoke about the impact AFA programming has on
audiences across North America and its importance to the
world-wide museum community.
A noteworthy number of artists, museum directors, art
collectors, and philanthropists came together to
celebrate the contributions of these individuals and the
AFA’s mission.
