The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters
Children’s Foundation (NLEAFCF) hosted its second annual
Hero Awards Gala on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Edison
Ballroom in New York City, with cocktails at 6PM followed by
dinner and an awards ceremony.
The NLEAFCF presented the Corporate
Hero Award to
Emanuele A. Conti, CEO Kroll, Inc. and the Public
Service Hero Award to
New York City Police Commissioner William J. Bratton. These
awards honor distinguished individuals and corporations
whose work supports the efforts of our nation’s first
responders. Proceeds from the event help underwrite
NLEAFCF’s ongoing scholarship and grant programs.
Created in the aftermath of 9/11 by Founder
and President Alfred Kahn, the NLEAFCF serves the long-term
needs of children and families nationwide affected by a line
of duty death or permanent disability. “We established this
Foundation with the mission of helping the heroes of
tomorrow – the children of the brave firefighters and law
enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice on our
behalf,” said Kahn, who is also the Chairman & CEO of
CraneKahn LLC.
“This event raises funds to provide our
heroes’ children needed financial resources for basic life
expenses and college costs. The NLEAFCF demonstrates in a
concrete and caring fashion that these families are not
forgotten after the initial attention to their tragic loss
has subsided. We invite all who wish to support these
families to join us at the gala and put into action what I
am sure resides in your heart,”
said Kahn.
Emanuele “Manny” A. Conti is Chief Executive
Officer of Kroll, Inc., a leading global provider in risk
mitigation and response, delivering a wide range of
solutions that span investigations, due diligence,
compliance, and security. Kroll has a long history of
working closely with the law enforcement community in regard
to cyber security, anti-bribery and corruption, threat
analysis and risk management efforts.
William J. Bratton is New York City’s 42nd
Police Commissioner. During his tenure with police
departments in Boston, Los Angeles and New York he brought
crime to historically low levels, created pioneering
policing programs and accountability systems and
distinguished himself as an innovator and national and
international leader in the law enforcement arena.
In addition to Corporate
Hero and Public
Service Hero our
uniformed heroes were recognized for their service. All
proceeds from the Hero Awards Gala help fund scholarship and
grant programs. Sponsors of the event also underwrite tables
for first responders to attend the Gala as honored guests.
The National
Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children’s Foundation
(NLEAFCF) is dedicated
to helping the children of law enforcement officers and
firefighters lost or permanently disabled in the line of
duty. When the ultimate sacrifice has been made by a first
responder, the Foundation believes it is our responsibility
as a society to ensure that their children achieve their
full potential as active citizens and thriving members of
the community. Through grants, college scholarships and
family-friendly events, the NLEAFCF serves the needs of
these children across
the country regardless
of how long ago or how recent their loss. The Foundation’s
long-term commitment is a promise to the people who defend
and protect us, a major investment in our nation’s future
and in tomorrow’s heroes.
