The National
Museum of Mathematics (MoMath)
celebrated Alan Alda and Steve Strogatz for their countless
contributions to the public understanding and appreciation
of mathematics at the 2014
Chaos Ball. |
During the cocktail hour, magician Mark
Mitton presented surprises from the frontiers of chaos
and cards in celebration of the evening's honorees, and
MoMath provided a peek at the combinatorial
art of Davor Vrankić. Guests were also invited to
become a part of
Julia's Stars, MoMath's
latest participatory artwork, inspired by a chaotic
attractor discovered by
Gaston Julia. |
The dinner hour featured a conversation
with and between Alda and Strogatz; an entertaining (and
interactive) look at the study of chaos, a focus of
Prof. Strogatz's research. |
