AT ITS 29TH ANNUAL POWER LUNCH FOR WOMEN

Norah O’Donnell, Co-Host of CBS This Morning, to Emcee Benefit That Raises Critical Funds Needed to Provide Meals and Companionship for New York’s Homebound Elderly

WHAT:  The Plaza Hotel will be the most powerful place in the city on Friday, November 20th as more than 400 women – leaders of industry, media, government and the arts – attend Citymeals-on-Wheels’ 29th Annual “Power Lunch for Women.”  This by invitation-only benefit, emceed by Norah O'Donnell, Co-Host of CBS This Morning, raised  more than $1.2 million – enough to provide over 187,000 meals for New York’s homebound elderly. 

              Citymeals Board Member Yusi Gurrera of Citarella was honored for her compassion and longtime commitment to Citymeals and frail aged New Yorkers.

This year’s lunching women were Donatella Arpaia, Ariane Batterberry, Jennifer Baum, Aliyyah Baylor, Carol Becker, Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, Samantha Boardman, M.D., Barbara Taylor Bradford, Mary Higgins Clark, Anne E. Cohen, Donna Corrado, Ariane Daguin,Lucy Schulte Danziger, Laura Day, Dasha Epstein, Jennifer Esposito, Florence Fabricant, Georgette Farkas, Ruth Finley, Randy Fishman, Audrey Gelman, Kathie Lee Gifford, Colleen Goggins, Gael Greene, Jamee Gregory, Marjorie Gubelmann, Mami Gummer, Donna Hanover, Caroline Hirsch, Dana Ivey, Rita Jammet, Jill Kaplan,Suri Kasirer, Harriette Rose Katz, Anne Keating, Rikki Klieman, Hoda Kotb, Barbara Lazaroff, Alexandra Lebenthal, Stephanie March, Zarela Martínez, Julie Menin, Margo MacNabb Nederlander, Enid Nemy, Liz Neumark, Bernadette Peters, Jennifer Raab, Ruth Reichl, Deborah Roberts, Betty Rollin, Daryl Roth, Paulette Satur, Peggy Siegal, Silda Wall Spitzer, Grace Spring, Linda Stasi, Christina Steinbrenner, Meryl Streep, Marcy Syms, Laurie M. A couple of dozen men were allowed the privilege of lunching with these powerful and famous women for an admission price of $10,000.  This year’s “$10K Men” included Daniel Boulud, Bill Fischer, Robert S. Grimes, Michael Lynne, John Shapiro, Bob Shaye, Jonas Tåhlin, and Donald Tober.

This year’s silent auction were chaired by Citymeals Board Members Bobbi Brown and Lizzie Tisch.

Also in attendance was  actor David Burtka.

 Among the afternoon’s highlights will be the premiere of a poignant new film that captures the essence of Citymeals and its work providing a lifeline to New York City’s homebound elderly.

One hundred percent of the money raised from ticket sales and the silent auction at Power Lunch, and all Citymeals events, goes toward the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals to homebound elderly in the five boroughs of New York City.  All funds needed to cover administrative and fundraising expenses are raised separately and specifically for those purposes and not from the general public.
