In 2009,
Sharon Content founded Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC)
after growing increasingly concerned about the lack of
support offered to young people who experience parental
incarceration; the organization served 145 children and
families. Since 2009, CPNYC has expanded to its current
location in Bedford-Stuyvesant, opened an Article 31 Mental
Health Clinic, and established Project DREAM, a one-on-one
mentoring program. Children of Promise, NYC now serves
between 550 and 700 children and families, and is currently
in the process of expanding to the Bronx to continue to
broaden the reach of its mission and impact.
