WHAT: Each
year The New York Public Library honors several distinguished
individuals for outstanding achievements in their respective
fields of arts, culture, letters and scholarship by naming them
Library Lions. This year, the event raised over $2.7 million
dollars to contribute to the New York Public Library's mission
of providing essential, free services to New Yorkers and the
world at large.
Previous honorees
include Margaret Atwood, President Nelson Mandela, Steve Martin,
Martin Scorsese, Zadie Smith, Gloria Steinem, Oprah Winfrey, and
many more.
