Host Cocktail Party to Kick Off Surgeons of Hope’s Annual Gala
2019 New York, N.Y. –
Jean and Martin Shafiroff hosted a cocktail event in their beautiful Park
Avenue residence, on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, as a kickoff for
Surgeons of Hope’s (SoH) Annual Gala. The highly-anticipated
gala dinner and auction will be held on Tuesday, October 15,
2019 at the JW Marriott Essex House.
The gala will honor SoH Heart Ambassador, Diego Luna, Actor and
Star of Narcos and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Maurice
Lévy, Chairman of Publicis Groupe, who was recently inducted
into the American Advertising Hall of Fame. The event is being
chaired by Jean Shafiroff, philanthropist, author and longtime
supporter of Surgeons of Hope.

Providing remarks about Surgeons of Hope’s lifesaving work with
children were Victoria Flamant, SoH Executive Director, Judith
O’Neill, SoH Vice President, and Jean Shafiroff, event host. SoH
board members David Chitayat and Robert Pine were also present,
in addition to His Excellency Jaime Hermida Castillo, Ambassador
and Permanent Representative of Nicaragua to the United Nations,
Consular General Juan René Icaza of Nicaragua, and Consular
General Rolando Madrigal of Costa Rica.
They were joined by guests who are prominent in the New York
social scene, including Flo Anthony, Edgar Batista, Tony Bechara,
Geoffrey Bradfield, Victor dE Souza, Lee Fryd, Lucia Hwong
Gordon, Jack Hartnett, Roy Kean, Alexander & Alexandra Posse,
Matt Rich, Gilda Sacasa, Randi Schatz, Elizabeth Shafiroff,
Houben Tcherkelov, Roric Tobin, Carolina von Humboldt.

delighted by a spontaneous Chopin performance by internationally
recognized conductor/composer Charles Zachary Bornstein. About
Surgeons of Hope Beginning in 2002, Surgeons of Hope strives to
provide every infant and child with a damaged heart an equal
opportunity to receive life-saving surgery. In order to
immediately help children with heart defects, Surgeons of Hope
organizes and deploys medical teams with volunteers from a
number of international and national academic hospitals. Each
medical mission is designed to meet the goals and needs of
