Resident Magazine Celebrates Meera Gandhi
As April Cover Story
Manhattan Event |
April 29, 2019, New York City: Ten
years ago, social entrepreneur Meera Gandhi founded The Giving
Back Foundation as a catalyst to uplift and empower women and
girls. True to its mission, The Giving Back Foundation has grown
its reach to currently support the all-girls St Michael’s School
in New Delhi, providing room, board and education free for all
students. The Foundation also provides scholarships to students
through the Eleanor Roosevelt Leadership Center and the Lakshmi
Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard. Additionally,
The Giving Back Foundation also supports the arts through
charities like the Elton John Aids Foundation, Marc Anthony’s
Maestro Cares Foundation and the Woodstock Film Festival. |
Meera has been instrumental in leading the
Foundation to establish global visibility for its projects,
and it’s because of this work that Meera has been featured
on the April cover of Manhattan’s premier magazine, Resident
with an 8-page inside interview and photoshoot. Two
well-attended parties were held in honor of her cover, the
first at the Anita Dongre Flagship in Manhattan, catered by
Chef Sujan Sarkar of Baar Baar restaurant, and the second in
Williamsburg at the trendy Passatempo restaurant. Guests
included notable supporters of The Giving Back Foundation
including Suhel Sethi, Jaswant Lalwani, Barbara Ellsworth
Robinson, Hadley Bressman, Yash and Binaisha Dongre, Chef
Floyd Cardoz, Caroline Leiberman, Roni Majumder, Jimmy Rizvi,
Zenobia Shroff and more. Two artists performed at the
events, 3x grammy-winning artist Kimberly Thompson who
played her latest track “Kiss” and Brooklyn-favorite Home
State featuring vocalist Alex Friedlander, drummer David
Berliner, and guitarist Matt Gralla who played their new
summer anthem, "Find My Own Way.” Both artists are available
on Spotify.

Publisher of Resident Magazine, Christopher Pape
says, “We were very happy to have Meera on our April cover, Not
only is she an outstanding New Yorker, but her charitable work
has helped uplift many people’s lives.” |
Meera adds, “I am truly honored to have
myself and The Giving Back Foundation featured in Resident
magazine. We are only to the Universe what we give back to
it, and through The Giving Back Foundation, I have made it
my life’s purpose to spread joy through giving.”

The Giving Back Foundation is celebrating its
10-year mark with events in Delhi, New York and London
throughout 2019. The Foundation raises money through the
sale of the Giving Back book, documentary, candle and
perfume. Future projects include a new book and television
show to highlight the continuing work already committed to
by the foundation and new opportunities to empower women,
children and the arts.
