Philanthropist and
author Jean Shafiroff hosted her
Annual Bastille Day Luncheon at the
elegant Maison Barnes Restaurant in New
York City. The luncheon was held in
honor of the French Heritage Society, a
charity whose board Jean has served on
since 2012. Jean's luncheon is a
sought-after celebration on the New York
City calendar. This year, 56
distinguished guests attended and
included a prince, seven fashion
designers, successful businesspeople,
politicians, attorneys, an international
artist, actors, a famous doctor and
society notables. The guests enjoyed a
specially curated gourmet luncheon
prepared in the kitchen of Cafe Boulud,
which is owned and operated by
renowned chef, Daniel Boulud.

Making a fashion
statement at the luncheon, Jean
Shafiroff initially wore a flowered
summer stretch knit outfit by Oscar de
la Renta and then later changed into a
pajama style pants suit by Alexander
McQueen. Jean is a fashion lover and
world class collector of couture and
ready to wear. She has appeared on a
number of "best dressed' lists and many
international fashion magazine covers.
She is a patron of the fashion industry
and has served on the board of Couture
Council of the Museum at the Fashion
Institute of Technology (FIT) since
2010.
Bastille Day is
the name given in English-speaking
countries to the National Day of France,
which is celebrated on 14 July each
year. The French National Day is the
anniversary of the storming of the
Bastille on 14 July 1789, a major event
of the French Revolution as well as
the Fete de la Federation that
celebrated the unity of the French
people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are
held throughout France with French
officials and foreign guests.
Philanthropist Jean
Shafiroff has served as a board member
of the French Heritage Society since
2012. A strong supporter of the
nonprofit organization and of French
culture and fashion, Jean is dedicated
to the preservation, restoration and
promotion of French heritage in America

Board. A Catholic, Jean served on the
board of the Jewish Board for 28 years
and now is one of their honorary
trustees. Jean Shafiroff has been
honored numerous times by a variety of
charitable organizations for her work.
