Luncheon Raises $4+ Million
The Central Park
Conservancy's annual Frederick Law
Olmsted luncheon on May 1st, 2024,
celebrated the Women's Committee's vital
role in preserving Central Park. This
year's event raised over $4 million,
showcasing the committee's dedication to
the park's upkeep. Diane Schaub, Curator
of the Central Park Gardens, and her
staff were honored with the Frederick
Law Olmsted Award, recognizing her 30
years of service. Schaub's leadership
has been instrumental in maintaining the
park's horticultural treasures.
The staggering $4
million raised from the luncheon will be
crucial in landscape restoration,
educational programs, and community
outreach. The Women's Committee's
contributions extend beyond fundraising,
actively involving the public in
preserving Central Park. The event
underscored the collective impact of
stewardship, underscoring the
significance of protecting urban green
spaces. Diane Schaub and her team's
unwavering dedication serve as a beacon
of commitment to preserving Central
Park's natural beauty for future

On hand to celebrate
were Elizabeth W. Smith, President of
the Central Park Conservancy and her
staff, former mayor Michael Bloomberg,
Jenny Price, Denise Rich, Barbara H.
Scott, Gillian Steel, Elyse Newhouse,
Michele Brazil, Muffie Potter Aston,
Bonnie Comley, Suzy Welch, Anita Durst,
Irene Gandy, Gillian Miniter, Suzie
Aijala, Fiona Rudin, Jenny Paulson and
over 1400 guests who joined together
under a tent in the Conservatory Gardens
to celebrate Ms. Schaub, the arrival of
spring and the gorgeous flowers in
bloom. |
