Las Vegas

The
Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation
(OCCF) marked a milestone this past
weekend, hosting its 25th Annual
Governor’s Black Tie event (April 9–12),
Nevada’s premier fundraising
celebration. Since its inception in
2000, the four-day event has raised $30
million to support local nonprofits,
including an impactful $1.5 million
this year alone.
On Wednesday, April 9, the festivities
began with the Anniversary Kick-Off
reception, complete with craft cocktails
and live music. On Thursday, April 10,
the highly anticipated Grand Bash at M
Resort Spa Casino stole the spotlight
with a strolling-style dinner, followed
by an electrifying program inside the
Pavilion.
Country music icon Lee Greenwood
surprised guests by opening the evening
with the national anthem and later
returned to perform a pair of his
greatest hits. OCCF Founder and Olympia
Companies CEO Garry Goett, alongside
OCCF Executive Director Angela Rock,
took to the stage to introduce this
year’s eight benefiting charities and
lead an exhilarating live auction.
Highlights included a VIP Loge Box for a
Raiders game, a UNLV Game Day Experience
for 16, an exclusive NFR experience, and
a Las Vegas Golden Knights Ultimate Fan
Package. |
A show-stopping moment came when two
guests engaged in a friendly bidding war
over a 2025 Land Rover Sport Dynamic SE.
In a generous twist, longtime partner
Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas donated two
vehicles, allowing both bidders to drive
away winners at $145,000 each.
The highlight of the evening was a
private performance by Grammy-winning
country star Darius Rucker, who had the
crowd on their feet dancing late into
the night. |
On Friday, tournament play began at
Southern Highlands Golf Club, followed
by the formal Governor’s Black Tie
Reception, hosted by Nevada Governor Joe
Lombardo, and capped off with a dazzling
10-minute fireworks display. The weekend
wrapped Saturday with the First Lady’s
Luncheon, hosted by First Lady Donna
Lombardo, featuring boutique shopping
from local vendors, final golf
tournament play, a million-dollar shot
competition, and the closing awards
ceremony.
Proceeds from the event support eight
impactful Southern Nevada nonprofits:
Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada,
Candlelighters, Nevada Childhood Cancer
Foundation, Children’s Heart Foundation,
Assistance League of Las Vegas,
Opportunity Village, Andson, and
DISCOVERY Children’s Museum.
“Twenty-five years ago, we set out with
a simple mission: to help families and
children in Southern Nevada who need a
hand up,” said Garry Goett, founder of
Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation
and CEO of Olympia Companies. “Thanks to
the unwavering support of our charity
partners, sponsors, Governor Lombardo,
and the entire community, we’ve now
raised $30 million. We’re humbled and
grateful to continue this important work
— together.”
